The Financial Services Roundtable has teamed up with the Consumer Federation of America and the Employee Benefit Research Institute to promote savings. BBVA Compass, Bank of America, U.S. Bancorp and Regions Financial are among those participating and encouraging consumers to take part in automatic savings accounts. "We're paying people to transfer money into savings accounts. It's good for customers and for the overall economy," said Steve Bartlett (left), president and CEO of The Financial Services Roundtable.

Safety Tips from ITAC, the Identity Theft Assistance Center. A new report shows identity theft reached unprecedented levels in 2009 due to a weak economy, but there was some good news for consumers. The Javelin Strategy & Research 2010 Identity Fraud Survey Report shows the number of identity fraud victims in the U.S. increased 12 percent to 11.1 million adults in 2009, while the total annual fraud amount increased by 12.5 percent to $54 billion.
