On December 4, Larry Zimpleman, Chairman, President and CEO of Principal Financial Group, stepped into a Des Moines, IA classroom to lead the financial literacy curriculum, “I Am an Entrepreneur” to students at Brody Middle School. Students worked in groups and played the Junior Achievement E-Quiz Game Show, where they identified entrepreneurial characteristics they possess by learning of entrepreneurs both past and present. At the end of the class, students were able to define entrepreneur, identify four key entrepreneurial characteristics and recognize personal entrepreneurial characteristics in themselves.
Zimpleman joins other financial services executives for “Executives in the Classroom,” an initiative of The Financial Services Roundtable designed to promote financial literacy. The initiative reaffirms the industry’s commitment to financial literacy and responsible public service through hands-on financial literacy sessions. Executives in the Classroom is part of the Roundtable’s broader Community Service 2009 initiative, a year-round commitment that focuses on strengthening communities.
